LOUISIANA GIG SUPPORTING ADEM (Photos)

THURS 25th SEPTEMBER

Louisiana, Bristol
Supporting Adem.

We all really enjoyed this one. Being fans of Adem it was a bit wierd to have him watch us setting up and soundcheck. I felt pretty stupid placing down Sinitta's head on the stage with him watching on. Sinitta called to say she couldn't make the gig, we tried to book her after hearing that she was opening the new Cabot Circus. Strangely i ended the set by singing..well..groaning 'So Macho'??, one of her biggest hits. It's strange the things that pop into your head when you're not thinking. We seemed to go down well with Adem & Mary Hampton. Adem said watching us reminded him of himself as a 15 year old boy in his first band Fridge!! Ha! Towards the end of his set he asked us up to help him out and to hit some pots and pans. I heckled from the bar.

We played the same set as the Special Wednesday gig. Our mum was there too! We are all brothers! She got a nice round of applause from the crowd for buying the drums.

BBC MONKEYS

Our good friend Johnny Lynch (The Pictish Trail) has done a session for Vic Galloway's radio 1 show. The session also features another OLO friend Miss Rozi Plain. Both will be playing at next weekend's Fence Hop in Bristol! It's a great listen, listen to it HERE. Radio 1 used our photo of Johnny & Monkey on their website that WE took at the Homegame back in 2006. We'll sue them later, maybe next week.

JEFFREY LEWIS / THE WAVE PICTURES - LIVE (17th Sept)

Was feeling a little groggy at this one but was soon cheered up by Jeff & the gang! I love watching him live, you're kind of willing him on rather than cheering him on. Probably not quite as good as the last time i saw him (i was gonna link it but i think it was even before i started this blog) probably because there was less comic book readings and more rocking out. Support band The Wave Pictures were really good, reminded me of Belle & Sebastian and British Sea Power mixed together. Again there's no Jeffrey Lewis videos from this gig so have a look at these to watch him live..

THE DODOS / EUROS CHILDS / SJ ESAU - LIVE (15th Sept)

All were really great, especially The Dodos! As much as i love the 'Visiter' album, you really need to see them live to see what they can do with those (Sung tong) songs. There's no videos from the gig (and i don't risk taking my camera out much anymore) so here's some other live Dodos videos filmed elsewhere..
