Noel Edmonds won an oscar! when his name was called out, he began to jump up and down with puppets on his hands, then he tripped down the stairs and rolled all the way down to the stage. i was laughing soo much i felt like my head was gonna explode. in his speech he thanked hospitals and wayne sleep (who had just had an operation on his stomach). for some reason this oscars ceremony was held on christmas day.

Hopefully i'll be starting a new job soon (think i said that about a month ago), so these shall be the last drawings from the court rooms. i feel i've exhausted the original idea of making my own archbold (book of law) with doodles from the court. i now have 2 books ('archbold' and 'skelton argument') packed full of all the good memories over the last year and a half. i'll use them one day for something or other. maybe a film about a judge who loses it, goes mad, and lets all the criminals run free.
these last 2 pages are partically bad..

Olo pals Safetyword keep on moving upwards. i've recently heard they will be playing with Ariel Pink at this year's Venn Festival, and in this week's Venue magazine they get a name check by Portishead's Geoff Barrow! do you like the way i stuck in 'pals' now they are heading places? hated them before, i only went to their gigs and listened to their music cos i felt sorry for them. here's the page from the magazine (click to enlarge)..

Them sneaky Aliens have gone and released their brilliant 1st EP 'Alienoid Starmonica' as a download only (for now). you can get it over at the big old money-making monster that is the itunes store. it's especially nice to see that the song 'hey leanna' got made as i remember a very excited Gordon (Lone Pigeon) one night describing to me how it was gonna sound..and i gotta admit i could'nt imagine it working. hooray, it did!

MOTHERS DAY

..Has been and gone. but my mother's day was made when she was recently featured in the march issue of the one and only 'Hertfordshire Life' magazine!! here's a quote from the editorial..
"looking at the areas of sport, business, fame, community spirit and country living (much like this blog) we build a picture of what living in Hertfordshire is all about. In business there is the entrepreneurial genius of Michele Hankins, a self-made success story in bridal accessories, while Geri Halliwell is a role model for any youngster who wants to follow their dream."
hahahaha!! aaaarrrrr!! brrrap! *does a little fizz-pop twichee dance* ...but.. er.. nooo!..haha! CALM DOWN. phew. hmm, firstly..GERI HALLIWELL!!? A ROLE MODEL!? oh god! if that youngster's dream is to become one of the most self-obsessed, annoying, winey, women on the planet!..then yes. love the fact that her name is mentioned along side a Hankins, i could almost be a spice girl! something else i dont expect to see next to the name Hankins is the word GENIUS. now, my mum does make some really beautiful tirars, and amazing shepherd pies but i think genius is going a bit too far. although if she's being judged along side ginger spice and vinnie jones, then the word is well deserved. If you read her little write up below, you will notice the absense of her no.1 influence..me. during her 4 years at uni i gave her all the encouragement and inspiration she needed to get that 1st class degree. having just completed an art degree myself, i was full of great advice and wise words.. "don't bother..no one reads those essays" "you've done enough work, what's for dinner?" "tutors know nothing!" "when you've finished that drawing can you do my CV please mum?" serious now..well done mother!
the inspirational Geri 'yoga-bones' Halliwell..
why must my mum share the page with that football thug!? "watch out mum! he's got a gun and a tattoo!!"
now if you can all email Robyn Bechelet (robyn.bechelet@archant.co.uk) and nominate me for next month's 'Hertfordshire Life's' God-like Genius Award i would be very thankful. well..it's either me or Jade Goody

Linda McCartney was busy sweeping baby chicken's off her expensive rug that she had just bought from someone in my kitchen. these chicken's were not alive, they were golden brown and ready to eat. tiny little snacks. she was moaning about me being asleep still. she walked over to my window, opened it up and threatened to jump out! i woke myself up screaming "noooooo don't do it!!"
BLACK DICE / MY LATEST NOVEL LIVE

My Latest Novel / Semifinalists @ The Cube Cinema - Fri 24th
Black Dice / F___ Buttons @ The Cooler - Sun 26th
It were couple of great nights! very very different gigs as you may expect if you know the bands. my right ear is still ringing a little from watching the F___ Buttons (i don't do swear words) perform screachy chicken raaaaaahh raaaaahhh! and other noises that sounded like the RSPCA should be called. they'll be playing at our upcoming Olo night (details to come later this week) so it was good to finally check them out. i was really impressed..quite a spectacle! 1st time i'd seen Black Dice, i was a little unsure how it was gonna sound live, but they actually sounded better than on record..bit more coherent, less bumpy. with that kind of writing i really should be a music journalist should'nt i? My Latest Novel were really really good. it's always a bit wierd watching bands in the Cube Cinema, we're all just sat there in silence staring straight at them. everyone twitching, desperately dying for a pee cos we've taken in and drunk too many odd sounding (zwjeig!?) beers..could just be me suppose.
it's a rule now that all the videos i post on this blog have to be soo dark no one can see them. here's another, a few mins of Black Dice..
Black Dice are also gonna be bringing out 'Gore', a book full of all their amazing artwork in june. i NEED this!! ..so i can rip of their work some more.

Pow! Biff! Woo!..Olo!! top pop bumper pack tonight ladies and gents.
3 Olo Radio shows for the price of 1! don't worry, that does'nt mean 6 hours! like most of the special offers in the supermarket, it's a scam..extra shiney wrapper, same old goo inside. there will be 3 one hour long shows spread out over the evening starting from 7pm.
what tasty goo though! they'll be tons of new music..some of which has'nt even been made yet! , delifinger's 'delicate disco', lionheart's 'siga mi trompa' mini mix, hairhandhair's brutal flip flops stompin' all over the park, but best of all..we have an EXCLUSIVE mix from MINOTAUR SHOCK!
oh, and another thing..we've upped the sound quality, so it should sound less computereeee and more like we're singing in your ear.
TUNE IN - weds 15th march (today) - 7pm > ? (it'll go on as long as it takes to finish the multi-pack)

*eyes tightly closed, biting bottom lip, (shaking) hands slowly opening the letter* "noooooooooooooooooo!!!! ..oh, costs of speakers".

Sad news, Ivor Cutler died the other day (only just annouced today). i loved his poetry and music and i always found popping little snippets on compilation cds really brightened them up. i only just played one of his songs on Olo Radio on weds which included these lyrics (kinda odd looking back now).. "dit dit dah dah..i'm sitting on top of the world and my bottom is cold, and my face is white..dit dit dah dit dah dah"
