MR KIPLING'S BIRTHDAY CAKE

DON'T LOOK AT ME!

Photos will go up tomorrow as i have been let down by a 'friend'. I have dumped him as a 'friend', he's just someone who i share rent with now. Off out now for more birthday fun!

I AM 27 YEARS OLD (That Is Old!)

I am too ill (too much liquid last night) to write much..i'll do that tomorrow..wait a minute that's in..erm..a minute..don't wait a minute, wait a good few hours, come back and i will have written more about my birthday. Must roll into bed now although i don't know how much sleep i'll get..just eaten birthday (chicken) pie and mash..and birthday (hold the chicken) cake, full belly. Above is this year's self portrait..i draw one every year on the day i was born.

INTERVIEW IN VELVET MAGAZINE

I'm still not sure why?..but about a month or so ago i was asked a few questions for a Greek Fashion/Arts/Music magazine called Velvet. Hmmm Odd. Anyway it's out now (in Greece) and yes, it's all written in Greek. I lost all my knowledge of the Greek language after the accident so i asked the writer to translate it. Unfortunately the feature is called 'Myspace whore' That's no fair! Below is the magazine cover, index (where i can be seen with an orange lolly) and the interview..along with a close up of Kaabooboo. Under the scans are the translated questions and answers. She wouldn't translate the opening paragragh, she said: "i really don't like the way words and meanings change from one language to another, it's a very personal thing. it's palyfull and positive though :)"
PALYFULL..i like the sound of that.

VELVET: What is your most cherished musical memory?

BB: Watching Fergal Sharkey on ‘Top Of The Pops’ when I was tiny. My dad tells me I used to go nuts whenever he came on the TV. I’d start jumping up and down on the sofa and singing. I remember he always performed on ridiculously big stages with over the top lighting. “A good heart these days is hard to find!!” What a guy!

V: How would you define beauty (I mean your own, personal definition)?

BB: A hot chick dressed as a hot dog with a pepperoni face handing out free samples.

V: Who or what has been the greatest inspiration to you so far?

BB: Being painfully average

V: As a child what scared you the most, and what is now your greatest fear?

BB: That wolf in ‘Pinocchio’. I couldn’t have the book in the same room as me. When I was young i used to have nightmares most nights about wolf’s chasing me, most of the time around garden centers. Now my fears are sharks (Jaws in particular), having my death recorded and stuck up on youtube, swimming pools, Ian Brown’s song ‘F.E.A.R’, paramedics*, really happy people, a fisherman’s pie*, walking around outdoors.
*THESE STARRED ANSWERS WERE GIVEN TO ME BY INTERNET PEOPLE.

V: What is the most obscene thing you have heard about yourself?

BB: That I eat out of rubbish bins, that I don’t respect the law, that I don’t look both ways when crossing the road.

V: What is your favorite place in the world and why?

BB: I have two favourite places..
1. Tokyo! They have beer vending machines on the street. The people seemed to actually like me over there, they said I looked like Prince William and the Hobbit. They treat you so well over there, not like this bloody country!
2. Hartham (In my home town Hertford). A park I used to walk my dog every day. Nearly every idea I’ve ever had was born there. I miss that place.

V: What is the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

BB: HP Beans

V: What is the greatest advice someone has ever given to you?

BB: “Live & Let Die” – Paul McCartney

>>>OTHER QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS THAT WERE NOT USED INCLUDED..

V: What’s the most beautiful lyric you’ve ever heard?

BB: “In dreams I walk with you, in dreams I talk to you, in dreams you’re mine, all the time, we’re together in dreams, in dreeeeeeams” – Roy Orbison

V: What has been your most memorable performance since you were a kid?

BB: OLO Worms have only played one gig so far which I was banned from performing by the other members and their girlfriends, so I havn’t actually performed any music live yet. I have done a lot of performance art over the years (mainly on Saturday nights in town centers). I remember one where I was dragged up to announce a band in a pub but ended up giving a long speech about flowers to a confused crowd of rock n’ rollers.

V: What would your idea of heaven be?

BB: A cartoon world where I don’t have to pay any bills.

V: Could you name some things that define your work?

BB: Hundred’s of cardboard boxes full of stuff with different coloured labels with words like ‘THINGS I CAN’T EXPLAIN’ written on them.

V: Can you describe yourself in three words?

BB: Head, Body, Hand (full of more cut-up newspaper words)

V: What do you believe is the most challenging element about making music?

BB: Lionheart, Delifinger, Seaweed (in that order)

V: What would you call your autobiography?

BB: Crumbola Dreams

Over the last few weeks i..

* Had to clean the back of my work van after a rat got in there, pissed everywhere, then died.

* Watched that new Jodie Marsh programme (cleaning that van wasn't to bad).

* Saw a couple of mini vampires in Bath.

* Went to the scrap yard and threw around 100 olive tins onto the giant mound of metal.

* Saw a vicar eating while driving..what the hell! Jesus Christ!

* Had to scrub away layers of old hardened oil while hungover at work.

* Spent ages queueing to buy a pink ladies dressing gown in Primart. Very embarrassing. All will be revealed on Wednesday and blogged on Thursday.

* Saw a woman with wonky sunglasses.

* Walked into a bar perfectly in time to the beginning of the 'Shaft' theme. What an entrance!

* Laughed when my mum asked read out the last question on the housing benefit form.. "Are you a homosexual?"
"Ha! No mum"
"Well...i have to ask"

* Saw a cat with a dead pigeon in its mouth while crows went mad above.

MUNDANE MOMENTS (Housing Benefit Form)

Yes i finally completed my Housing Benefit form the other week. I've been putting off doing it since March. The photo above is me celebrating with my mum & brother..what a night!

BLACK AFFAIR LIVE (Sat 22nd Sept)

A strange day. I spent the first half wondering around charity shops looking for a pink suit for my Special Wednesday costume..no luck, but found something else that may work. While walking home with bags of all my ridicous props i bumped into Mr Steve Mason (AKA Black Affair, KBT, ex Beta Band). We had a little chat, he seemed alot less scared of me than normal..i think the times in the past i've spoken to him i've come across as a crazed psycho fan..like i can after a few drinks. A few hours later i was stood on my own in the corner surrounded by what looked like the cast of Skins, I was probably the oldest person in the venue..scary. It was a really really great set, so much better than i expected. Although i've liked the tracks stuck up on myspace i was unsure how they would come across live. It's gonna be a stomper of an album! He can do no wrong. Next up were The Ting Tings who were really good fun, like a pop version of The White Stripes. The New Young Pony Club bored me. One trick pony me thinks. Had a few more beers with Mr Mason and co, was let in on a few more Beta Band tales and secrets. I took my camera but for some reason it stayed in my pocket until about 3am where i then decided to take some photos of the club floor, some random people and one of me with half a wig on (might use that on Wednesday).

NO TV TODAY (Strawberry Jam & Beyond!)

YesssSSStrawberry Jam finally came out last week, Animal Collective's eighth and in my opinion best album..not only their best album but as i said before..it's the ALBUM OF THE DECADE!! Having had it for a few months now and having listened to it everyday since then i can honestly say i'm a long way from being bored of it. My once healthy Animal Collective obsession is now completely out of control. Baaaaah Moooo Rumbaaa!!

* 'Peacebone'.
I'm a bit unsure about the Peacebone video. There are moments that i like and feel work, others moments really don't suit them. It's still about a million times better than most videos..

* 'Fireworks'. This video definatly worked.

* 'Chores' (live last year)

* 'Safer' the Peacebone b-side..why b-side? (live last year)

We have just been confirmed to dj at this year's hottest party! ..My brother's girlfriend's 25th birthday bash. Above is the truly awful poster i drew (left handed in 5 minutes)..sorry mandy.

ATOM BOMB LAUNCH

The string vest is back! in fashion? You & The Atom Bomb launched their new mini album on Saturday night at the Cube Cinema. It was like watching pop music, it was POP music! We played some tunes made by others throughout the night in the bar which seemed to go down alright. At the end of the night Delifinger & I cleared the dance floor and had a little shake-down which was really quite dreadful..i have the video, i have the power to delete it.

Wet paint! a quick last minute OLO Radio poster i made and stuck up..

Woooah!! BARNET!..

LOOK OUT! PEOPLE!!..

THE BOSS & CO (King Creosote Live)

I went and saw the boss (not Bruce, Kenny..AKA King Creosote) on wednesday night. Very good it were to. After the gig we all slipped off for a few beers and a pizza. The delightful Romanhead & Rozi Plain were also in attendance..as were some good ol' fashioned groupies including one slighty mad girl called ASTRO! maybe that's her stripper name? if you want to blame anyone for the poor standard of photos..blame her!

Here's The Pictish Trail's take on the evening.

Left to Right: Miss Crook, Lionheart, Pictish Trail, Rozi Plain, Romanhead, King Creosote, On The Fly, MC Quake..

OLO vs THE BBC

A few days ago we were invited to give a radio interview for BBC Bristol. The edited interview will go out soon-ish, we'll let you know when that is. Topics included 'Carry On' films, Mr Slush Puppy, foam parties, and Delifinger's flakes of skin. Bet you can't wait! Below are some pics from our time at the B.B.C!

V.I.P passes that got us EVERYWHERE!! the waiting room and the Andi Peters broom cupboard were the main hangouts..

I wore my OLO Radio cap to show BBC Radio that the BIG BOYS were in the building!!..

Another OLO cap, this one modelled by Seaweed..

Interviewer Kate 'THIS IS THE NEEEWS!" Salisbury quite relaxed before we started talking..

We are a very political band, we stand for/by political vans. If you look closely you will see that Delifinger is wearing sandles..will the toe ever get better??..

What's this!?? A worm of some sort. It was found on Seaweed's jacket after we had left the interview. This was shocking! I doubt we'll return to the Beeb again..we're all very dissapointed with them..

I found another worm in our house later, this was a nice friendly worm..not like that nasty dirty thing that attacked Seaweed in the studio (not Kate, the worm)..
