"I have been into soft rock since I found a scruffy, empty cassette of "Out of the Blue" by ELO in the back of my mother's Volvo 360 in about 1992. I didn't actually hear the album until 2003. If I had a dream it would be to live in the world featured on Supertramp's 'Breakfast in America'. Both covers feature planes and flying and I didn't do that until 2000, so I suppose softrock for me is all about escapism, possibilities and longing. The other album my mother kept in her car was The Very Best of Chris De Burgh..."

"In our unremitting journey to all things Deerhoof, we came by chance to a podcast of John Dieterich, the guitarist of the nuts lunatic company from San Francisco. Dieterich takes you on a fantastic trip, but OLO Radio contains yet more gold gems.

Dieterich begins its mix with Fiery Furnaces and closes finished with Danielson, familiar names from the indie-scene, but among those he entices us always more deeply within in its musical universe, along modest pianostukjes of Béla Bartók and Erik Satie, jazzy ballads of Nedelle and The Curtains, raw acoustic punk of Cheval the Fresh and luizige drum 'n basses of Good For Cows.

Dieterich is one of the 'special guests' on OLO Radio, a radio blog of OLO Worms, a bunch weirdo's as their homepage and MySpace-profile show, but good weirdo's with good taste. "A bunch of songs that rock me. As a band we can never agree on what music to listen to in the car, apart from bands like Deerhoof and Liars which we all seem to enjoy. But i guess at the moment i'm into music that has quite dense instrumentation and lots of singing, and also stuff thats quite melodramatic and tells a story. The song at the end is by Man Man. I think at the moment both this band and the Dirty Projectors manage to capture everything I love about music. For some reason i think i'm moving away from electronic music into stuff thats all hand played."

I'm sat here now with a giddy-fizzy reward (JD & coke) on my day off having just finished doing my weekly chores with one of my all time favourite albums on.. 'A Northern Soul' by The Verve. I've been listening alot recently to this album, it really takes me back to being 16/17 driving around at night, driving (on my own..ahh) to the cinema and feeling sorry for myself..it's a very lonely album you see. I love it, it's perfect. I bumped into Nick McCabe at a Peter Kay stand up show about 4 years ago (very strange) and told him that, he whispered 'thank you'. However naff Dickie Ashcroft turned out to be later in his career, nothing can tarnish the quality of this record. I heard while making the album they were all addicted to lasagna, they ate it every day for months!? Here, enjoy visual highlights from the album..

Dear Radio Fans,

Oh my!! We are soo sorry we were off air for soo long. This will not happen again! To be honest there is no real reason for the absence other than..we got fat and lazy. So unfortunately this meant there was no Christmas or Best of the Year podcast.

However, while we were away Boonbeans did compile a few 'best of 2007' lists (for his own enjoyment), these can be viewed here.. SONGS / ALBUMS / VIDEOS / GIGS

We are all very excited about stepping back into the old OLO Radio studio again and creating lots of new mixes for you. We also have a whole load of special guest mixes for you coming up very soon.

It were right good! Thanks Gareth, sorry about the breakages. At the end of the night we played some songs on the pub roof.. a video may follow if i can salvage ANYTHING from all the clips. I'm sorry my stupid fat sweaty face pops up in nearly every photo (there were about another 20 i didn't post).
