Spent most of the day being terrorised by driller killers!! "They're outside my window! Arrrrrgh!" We had some blokey men round drilling walls in the house!? Now, i have been told why this happened but i still don't really get it so if i was to try and explain to you, you'd end up feeling like i was drilling your brain with my stupidity. I was like the classic young female slasher horror film victim running round shrieking in my dressing gown. I wasn't soo scared that i got down to my bra and knickers for the final scene you'll be glad to know. The final scene saw one of the killers enter the house catching me in my short shorts painting a deranged man holding a golden egg. "That's some wicked bass!" one of them said to me. He was referring to the Kraftwerk i was listening to. "I'd like to bomb along to that in me car". I offered him a cup of tea like you should always do when interacting with builders and the like. He looked over at the disturbing child-like painting and looked slightly worried for his safety..as he should..as i..as it turned out to be was THE REAL SERIAL KILLER all along!! "rarrrraaaagghhhhh!!!" I bit into my split lip drawing more blood from the cut, tucked my girly fringe behind my ears and then slowly revealed the palette knife from behind my back (it was covered in red oil paint). I stabbed him 13 times. Later i received a text from a friend..
"Celeb spot no.1 - Colleen from Loose Women. someone asked her to sign their face"
I've decided to dress up a bit for Halloween. I raided my Mum's wardrobe and found a few things that might work. There were more treats in the loft too. I think i look quite dashing in the outfit. I'll post up some photos after Saturday night.
Had a bit of a crisis with the painting. It's not really working out. i had a bit of a hissy fit. "Who am i? what do i make? WHAT do i do?? I have no skills! Maybe i should start acting. I could play an alien in a big blockbuster movie!?". I got all stressed and gave up the painting (for now, i will carry on next week). I don't need to show anything at this art show on Sunday but i got it into my mind that i had to. I'm still going but without any artwork...to an art show, ha! I printed off 66 postcards with random doodles on to advertise my new website which i'll post and tell you about soon. There's always postcards at these craft fair things, someone will lap them up. I'll take my worm T-shirts too (which i WILL actually TRY and sell soon..stay tuned for that). Not really bothered about making any money on Sunday cos i'm minted ain't i?
Soundtrack
Mary Anne Hobbs - 'Wild Angels' comp
Hudson Mohawke - 'Butter' (i cant get over how amazing this is!! storms into my top 10 of the year. its getting crowded in there).
Junior Boys - 'Begone Dull Care'
James Yorkston - 'When The Haar Rolls In'
Laura Marling - 'Alas I Cannot Swim'

Had a good chat on the ol' dog 'n bone to a mate who's trying to get me some contacts in London. He wants me to meet a man at Sony!? I'm a bit scared. What would he want with little old me? My mate told me he's been making adverts for Burger King. I better not say anything about their new schemes but it sounds rather daft. Later i helped my Mum move a load of plant pots (fun). I had a bit of a breakthrough with the painting yesterday. It's slowly coming back to me now. You gotta get dirty and make mistakes in order to get anywhere. I've painted some kind of animal (maybe a sloth?) hanging upside down and a man reaching for an egg with a backdrop of wires. Put on a shirt and drove to my Grandad's for dinner cooked by my Cousin. I managed to pee on my shirt in the toilet, i don't think anyone noticed. Drank a good mix of wines and had a nice evening. Watched 'Nevermind The Buzzcocks' ..Fern Cotton looked awful! It looked like someone had used a pencil to draw extra nostrils on her nose. Disturbing.

Massive Attack - 'Mezzanine'
Steve Mason - Breezeblock mix
Animal Collective - 'Feels'

Air - '10,000 HZ Legend'

TEA SELECTA!
Remembered that i saw the 'Bo Selecta' guy last night on a train. He'd been clothes shopping. Boring celeb spot. Later i had a cup of tea and watched 'Life' YES YES I DID. It's soo good isn't it? I wonder what kind of beings live in tea bags?
QUESTION TIME
Jack Straw came out of that..erm.....errr.........*bumble bumble*....erm...errrr... "answer the question Heinz Junkins!!". Nick Griffin = squirming sweaty piglet. Roast him on the fire and force feed him to other BNP members. Heard he wipes his bum the wrong way round too! I think he should become a WWF style wrestler.
DREAM (Of Andy Townsend / End Of The World?)
Last Thursday i dreamt that Mexico beat Ireland 6-4 in the World Cup. I was on the pitch during the match waiting to catch a flight. Andy Townsend lead a comeback when Ireland were 6-1 down. I also dreamt it was the last day of something, maybe the world!? People were saying their goodbyes at the fair. They faked it & just played the sound of a rocket taking off at the end and told us to go.
MY MUM SAID I HAD A MOUSTACHE SO I SHAVED IT OFF
Minutes before i did..
Later i ate Popeye Pie and drank red wine. Then i was forced into watching THIS again. Yes, i do realise its too long now. before bed i listened to Lo-Fi Allstars 'How To Operate With A Blown Mind', still one of my fave albums ever.

RUNNERS ARE OK SPITTING IN THE STREET
..Is a new song title i came up with while running the other day. I think i'll try and make it up on my own and then if it's good enough take it to one of the bands and see if they want it. Do you mind runners spitting in the street?
TUESDAY ART CLUB
No Tuesday Art Club tonight. Last week i enjoyed 'An Audience With..' painting session. Two men sat & watched me paint a ugly bird with cherries. They could'nt stop laughing. Then there was talk of me starting a business making Bride & Groom figures for wedding cakes. We all had fun with that idea. The men were serious about it. The bride wasn't too keen. We listened to Queen while eating our gammon. 'Rock The Planet' album combined with Gok Wan forced me upstairs.
BOWLS CLUB DINNER DANCE
Last week i got asked to go to a Bowls Club Dinner Dance. Was told there would be dinner AND dancing. I had 2mins to decide with everyone watching me squirm and riggle. I'm not going, i'm more into darts to be honest.
OLO IDEAS COME EASY WHEN DRIVING MY MUM'S CAR
Been driving, been thinking. Over the last few weeks i've been driving here, there, A to B, sometimes C, mainly to The Co-Op...bean buying. I've been getting ideas for the artwork that MIGHT be on the 7" single we MIGHT have out early next year. I'm well excited about this! I'd like us to record Royal Mail workers whistling and singing for our song 'Back From England'. Might go record them all together or individually walking down house driveways, i'm not sure yet? When i saw them all on the news striking i thought PERFECT! Great timing, it's meant to be. We recently just bought a digital recorder thingy so there's no excuse not to do this. Another idea for the song is to record around Southmead in Bristol. The place was seen on 'Panorama' last week. Some terrible terrible people have been saying some nasty things, i'd like to drive past in a car (with the doors locked) and ask them a question. We might go see Gareth's team Southampton play Bristol Rovers soon, if we do we'll record there too. He also wants us to record in Clevedon to capture the sound of waves. I'm gonna push him in the sea! tee hee! We've also been talking to our French friend Francois about playing a fun instrument on the track. Lyrics seem to come easy when on the move, but im a safe driver so i repeat them in my head til i STOP!!

Oh jeeez!! There is a now a pressure group (on facebook) demanding that i finish the long overdue pop video for SJ Esau. I'm really embarrassed about how this fell apart. It will get finished.

I will! I will! I need my partner in crime to commit to it too. Updates will be blogged in the coming weeks/months. HERE is the group page.

HAIR HANGS LONG
My hair is really getting pretty long now. What to do!? I've kinda got old style curtains like i had at school. Sometimes i like to tuck the hair behind my ears and pretend i'm an Argentinian footballer. I only do this inside though. I could try a John & Edward X-Factor style wall of hair maybe? Listening to the Hudson Mohawke album now makes me wanna dye it pink & purple and set it on fire!
SILVER COLUMNS
I've been doing some design and artwork for a new musical project called Silver Columns. I can't say anything about them other than they are super sexy! Ha! I'll post up the artwork and info when i'm allowed. 'Brow Beaten' can be heard on their Myspace. Above is their single artwork (not done by me). I've heard they are gonna be in the NME tomorrow, there was talk of one of my images being used in the magazine too but i don't think that's happening anymore.
SLOW CLUB T-SHIRT
I got asked to help to put together a design for a new Slow Club T-shirt. I was given the photo below and told what to do. Below is my version and the final version which made it onto the T-shirts..

THIS LIFE
Dear Diary,
Hello from my new bedroom at Boot Camp! BOOT CAMP!! It's like rehab. I'm not on reality TV though, not on ITV3. I've got a TV though, a desk, my computer, stereo, bed..and LOADS of storage options!..a whole loft infact! In case you don't know i have moved out of Bristol. I like to say i was forced out. I did'nt want to leave but after years of poorly paid jobs, a few stints on the dole & general bad decisions involving coins and notes i found myself in a position that i could no longer afford to eat let alone pay rent and bills. I'm in my late 20s and don't have anything to show for it apart from boxes of drawings and newspaper cuttings. I do understand why i'm on my own. Boo bloody hoo! I've had my head stuck in the ground for too long. I owe (or did owe, i'm currently paying people back) alot of money. So last month (just before my Birthday) i had to admit defeat and decided to move back home (Hertfordshire) with my Mum. "Big baby runs home to Mummy!" was the headline in the local newspaper. I quit my job at the cinema which was easy, although a little sad as i did have fun there sometimes. Found a replacement for the flat, he gets boozy, likes to wear joggers and watch trash TV too. I like to think of him as my apprentice. It was very sad leaving Bristol (although i have actually been back nearly every weekend since ha! So i've not really cut myself off yet). I'd been living there since the year 2000! Nearly 10 years! Oh yeah i love Bristol but i need to leave and want to return in better shape.
The first thing i did when i arrived at Boot Camp was to go through all my boxes of 'junk' (i don't need to explain, you've all seen my junk over the years on this here blog) and got organised. It's all up in the loft now. I'm hoping when i move back to Bristol i'll walk it with just a bag on a stick like Droopy in those old cartoons, what's that stick & bag called? For me 2009 is now all about clearing the decks, getting back on track, getting fit and healthy and preparing for the year 2010. 2010 is gonna be ACE! I can feel it..it HAS TO BE ACE!..or another word which means the same thing..like...erm. A new decade! woo! Hold that horse James! It's still 2009.
Oct 27th 2009, I'm sat here with a cup of tea having just got back from a long drive around Hertfordshire. I got sent out to the Butchers (that's kinda my payment for living here) to get some of Buntingford's finest traditional sausages. I got a little lost. My knowledge of the roads around Buntingford is pretty poor so one wrong turn means a slight (ermm..30min) detour through Hertford Town centre. That's cool though cos i LOVE driving through Hertford! I do love Hertford. It's thee old home ain't it!? Nothing's happening really, nothing's changed much. A few new pubs have popped up and there's a Starbucks of course but its still pretty dead. I've seen quite a few people i recognise wondering round, people from school that have aged pretty badly. They look soo bored and their faces have melted. It seems so much smaller than when i lived here before i moved away, it's a bit like a toy town. I'm looking forward to seeing a few of my mates who live near by soon although i don't plan to do much in the way of drinking in the Town though, i'm on a bit of a health kick. Well..i would be if it was'nt for the dirty weekends in Bristol filling up on the bad stuff. I've completed just 5 runs so far, that needs to IMPROVE! i'll be posting more about the Fat Girls Running Club soon. "Say no to carbs!".
Life at Boot Camp is good! Food is good!! GOOD FOOD!! I'm so lucky to be eating amazing healthy tasty meals for free. Thanks (you know who you are). Being a lazy cook was not helping me at all. I got stuck in a pattern of cooking (i mean re-heating) the same things everyday. It makes you even more lazy. FAT LAZY MEN need to shake it up! I mean i know i'm still lazy as i'm not actually cooking, ha!..but i'm taking on board the advice so when i move out i'll be ready for that fat bald man on Masterchef to take that fork, dig in to my grilled salmon and fresh vegatables, hold that fork in his mouth (for much longer than really necessary) and look up at me and say "James, you're through to the 2nd round of this year's junior Masterchef!!"
So with all this change i've been getting behind on the old blogging recently. Bad blogger! On your bed! I'm in the process of changing the way i do things. There's gonna be less re-tweets and more personal droppings. Ha! I know this isn't exactly big news. Has there ever been big news on this blog!?? At Boot Camp surfing the web is frowned apon and rightly so. Im trying to cut down massively on the time spent on Twitter/Facebook/email/etc. I hate it! Seriously i do. I know i champion it (and it has got quite a few plus points) but thinking about it i've wasted ALOT of time over the last few years. Time i could have spent gathering money in a swimming pool like in 'Ducktails'. It's depressing thinking about how little i own. I'm not cutting myself off the internet, just cutting down. I've got running & painting to do now! Oh yeah and one day i might even think about getting a job. Let's hope music or film or art saves me though.
I do still want to keep my blog going though so i'll still post on here and on Bean Snaps, Bean Burner..and..on my NEW WEBSITE!! Yeah!! I got myself a website at last. A proper one to try and attract people with money. I'll be finishing it in the next week or so.
Yep, so that's my news. I hope you are well who ever you are? If not, eat fresh fish! It really helps your brain think. THINK FISH!

HERE is a video of us playing 'Sphinx' & 'Are You Girl?' in Blackburn (during 'B-Team Tour' back in August) that's hosted on the Saatchi Gallery website for some reason!? Remember this was the first gig of the tour which explains why we're a bit rusty. Check out the close ups! ha! There are also videos of Rozi Plain & The Pictish Trail (featuring 3/4 OLO Worms) on the site.
